this is it this is probably one of those gem of lines that btvs cordy speaks but gets sidestepped as a joke like whedon women are generally made to suffer atrocius thing and it seems like a character building exercise and here is cordelia saying that she has too much character and you know it sucks to tell someone whose life is horrible that they have become stronger for it and look at the scenes this seventeen year old genius picked they are all scenes where cordelia has gone thrugh hell because of her gender three of them are related to forced impregnation arcs and one of them is her being tortured and then having to deal with women hatred as a direct result of stopping her torture and cordelia chase tells you in season 2 episode 1 that adversity isn’t this awesome character building exercise and her improved strength is worth going through hell multiple times a woman doesn’t have to suffer to have character she already HAS TOO MUCH CHARACTER
perhaps the best cordelia-related post on this whole site, oh my god

ats meme: ten episodes
→ not fade away#the very best finale i’ve ever seen tbh #i mean that last scene is what this show has always been about #if nothing we do matters; then all that matters is what we do #they can’t possibly win and they didn’t even HAVE to fight the battle in the first place but they ended it with that beautiful beautiful … #line #let’s go to work
goddamn i love this fucking gifset/commentary

tobytots asked: Firstly, I'm so scared to watch the video for THAT episode of Angel when you post it, because I know you're going to break my heart. Secondly, how would you describe Buffy, Angel and/or Dollhouse to a first time watcher who needs convincing?
SPOILERS FOR ANGEL SEASON 5, EPISODE 15
Oh god, just FAIR WARNING for anyone who is going to watch the video for Angel S05E15: I’m pretty sure it’s going to break you? I had to re-watch it when I was encoding it to make sure the sound and picture synced, and it was awful because you can see the exact moment where I realize that the ending is not going to go like I want it to. I’m actually glad that schedule-wise, I have a “break” from Angel because I was a total fucking wreck the night I watched that and the next day when I tried to write a review.
Okay, first time watchers!
Buffy: It’s dated, it’s campy, it’s silly, but it’s a show that combines science fiction, fantasy, and drama in a unique way that’s absolutely worth it if you give it time. Just imagine it as a re-telling of the American high school/teenage experience but with vampires and demons.
Angel: Watch the first three seasons of Buffy first. A much darker and more grim version of Buffy that’s set in Los Angeles and analyzes the complex moral existence of adulthood in a place that’s so morally ambiguous it’s nearly impossible to do “right” without compromise. Also, Cordelia Chase.
Dollhouse: WATCH THIS UNTIL THE 6TH EPISODE. If the 6th episode does not pull you in, then this isn’t for you. It’s a mega-disturbing (and sometimes triggering) exploration of identity, consent, and the horrific powers that mega corporations have on human life.
mossomness asked: It's ok if you can't answer this since the review hasn't been posted yet, but are you alright since that last episode of Angel you watched? Or did it break you?

i was so sure this was just like all the other plots and then that ending just… i can’t. ugh. i just teared up again thinking about it. i’m so heartbroken :( PLEASE TAKE IT BACK
not-you-greenberg asked: Do you plan to liveblog going back and reading the ROT13 from Mark Watches Buffy & Angel? Or make a post about things afterward?
I did a post-Buffy Q&A that was super fun! But I’m waiting to read the rot13 until after I finish the comics because apparently there are a lot of spoilers for that, too. :)
katherinemh asked: I don't think you answered this in your Angel predictions post, but since you were so FREAKISHLY accurate with your Buffy prediction -- the final scene of the final episode of Angel?
GOD WASN’T THAT THE BEST.
Okay, final scene in final episode of Angel: the entire team leaves town after blowing up Wolfram & Hart.
i just really needed to point out that this is lilah’s reaction to watching a video of wesley doing this:
that is all carry on with your day
OH MY GOD IT WAS TOTALLY FORESHADOWED AND I DIDN’T CATCH IT

HOW COULD YOU TELL THAT WAS ALEXIS DENISOF. I COULDN’T. I STILL CAN’T.
Hahahaha! I mean, I have been watching a LOT of Angel, and something about his inflection reminded me of him. It was a fleeting thought at first, but then the credits confirmed it!
applesarefuckinghealthy replied to your post: Mark Watches Buffy The Vampire Slayer
yay! but what do you mean “include relevant episodes of angel”? aren’t you going to watch angel as a whole noooooo
It’s strictly an issue of logistics/time. At this point. I won’t finish this show until sometime in June/July, and that’s not even adding in the many Angel episodes. If I had 100+ episodes into that mix, my entirety of 2012 will only be that, and I need to do other things for the site just because there’s so much to get to.
