Hello, everyone! I’ve checked Tumblr a few times in the past 12 days since I left the Bay Area on the Mark Does Stuff tour. I’ve spent all this time in the South, and the last six days in good ol’ Texas. Which I have liked! A whole lot! I’ve met some of the nicest, silliest people in my life.
I have not slept a whole lot, so I’m looking forward to two days off before I continue meeting Mark Does Stuff fans and reading horrifying fanfiction to unsuspecting audiences for three more weeks. (No, seriously, in Austin, I had to introduce someone to fanfiction through a Drapple fic. SHE HAD NEVER HEARD OF FANFICTION AND I READ HER THE FIRST FIC SHE’D EVER EXPERIENCED and it was the most horrifying one.) The next part of tour will be in the Midwest, Canada, and the East Coast!
I feel like a year worth of Internet time has passed since I spent any real time online. Is it weird that I’m looking forward to 48 hours of consistent wi-fi? Like, I am just so done with shitty hotel Internet or spotty 3G service, since the Tumblr app NEVER LOADS IMAGES. this is my life.
I’m very thankful to the many people who have shown up to this first leg of this tour to party with me. It’s been a humbling and flattering experience, and I’ve gotten to go to so many places I’d never been! Texas is kind of awesome. I went to Buc-ees for the first time, and I have never felt so American in my whole life. I experienced both Houston and Dallas traffic, I got super mad at all the hipsters in Austin for closing down all the good museums in town because of SXSW, I ate fried avocado in a cone twice, I ate a vegan brownie sundae in Dallas that was a perfect metaphor for the upcoming race war, I had an event in the RADDEST bookstore in Oak Cliff, I accidentally called my mom a “gay cheerleader” two separate times, and I am not sure I can sustain laughing anymore because y’all are funny as hell.
So! I have three straight weeks of events planned. Events are listed below and link to the Facebook RSVP pages and include all info about where the events/live readings will be. Even if you just want to hang out, you should come to an event! My events are not geared towards being a regular reader, so you’ll still have fun. Thanks everyone! ONWARDS I GO. After a nap. hello everyone!
I have been reblogging here and there lately, but have largely been a bit absent around tumblr. sorry about that! i do adore all of you and hope to finally have time to hold ask parties, to interact more, and to enjoy this lovely space here. i just finished the manuscript for Mark Reads Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows last night (just over 200k words WHAT HAVE I DONE), and after I finish next week’s reviews, i shall turn my attention over to y’all. i also made a new tumblr that i have been d y i n g to get off the ground, and it should be ~revealed~ soon, so i’ll let you know about that

Unfortunately I possess neither a car nor a license because driving terrifies the living shit out of me but I could probably still manage a meet up depending on the distance. I’m in Harford County (Bel Air, to be precise).

Actually, I’m in Virginia, just south of Richmond, and also have neither a car nor a license. Why must driving still be so terrifying? I’m too old to not be a driver! I’m hoping I can get to a Mark thing, though, with the help of my sister.

A quick note about all Asks re: Mark Does Stuff scheduling
So, the vast majority of Asks I have right now are pretty much variations on the same few questions:
- When are you going to read/watch/play this book/series/show/game?
- Will you read/watch/play this book/series/show/game?
- You should read/watch/play this book/series/show/game.
- Can I offer you sexual and/or monetary favors to bump this book/series/show/game up the list?
So let me just answer this all in one post:
- If a book/series/show/game is not on the Master Schedule, I have no idea when I am getting to it. Furthermore, trying to guess is foolish and impossible. Unless I sit and spend days scheduling everything out, I have no clue what the future holds beyond what is on the schedule.
- I’m not adding anything to my Confirmed List on any site because I’ll be 57 by the time I finish everything that’s already there. Please don’t pitch anything to me. I won’t read/watch/play it, and that’s not because I hate you or hate what you love. It’s purely an issue of time. I am one person, I can only do so much.
- Personal recommendations are fine, but know that I already have virtually no free time as it is.
- There’s really no way to “bump” anything up and get me to do it sooner unless it is very short and you commission me to do a video for it. This worked for Legend of Korra, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and The Chosen, but I also managed to have some free time, so please contact me before doing this in case my schedule is too hectic to accomodate this.
- I will catch up on Fringe and Doctor Who in the next two weeks.
- No, I will not review your book or your fanfiction unless you are truly okay with the fact that I may not like it or I might endlessly make fun of it, AND it’s not a 45k words long or anything. Oh boy, I have had to reject so many commissions and refund payments for this. Please, it’s super, super, super awkward for me, and generally, what I’m given is way longer than a couple videos worth of work to do.
If I’ve linked you here, I am not trying to be rude, but I cannot spend time answering the same question over and over again, so I thought it would be helpful to just include this information in one post.
